About Sonata

Sonata is a set-prep tool for DJs: it checks the keys, flags where two tracks clash and lets you hear the whole set run, so you can hear it before you play it. You choose the tracks, you set the order and you still do the djing.

What Sonata is for

You need to hear a set before you go out and play it. You need to plan it, and you need to know which songs work together. A list of tracks tells you very little about any of that.

  • Hear it first

Sonata plays the whole set through end to end, so you can listen before the night.

  • Plan the order

Sonata suggests an order with the fewest key clashes first, then a steady tempo. You can rearrange it.

  • Know what goes together

Sonata reads the key of each track and shows which blends are in key and which clash.

Hear it

You add tracks from your own library: MP3, WAV, AIFF or FLAC files, or a whole folder. Sonata reads the tempo and key of each one, suggests an order with the fewest key clashes first and then a steady tempo, and lets you preview each blend. You can rearrange it, play the whole set in the browser, or export it to USB for Pioneer decks, to rekordbox, or to SoundCloud.

Free for one mix of up to 10 tracks, with WAV export. Pro, from 5 US dollars for a weekend, takes the cap off and adds MP3 and rekordbox. USB tracks for Pioneer decks is in beta, on Pro. See the plans.

Hear it on the home page or read the frequently asked questions.

Your music stays yours

Your tracks stay on this device. They are never uploaded. Sonata works inside your browser, and your mixes are saved in this browser on this device. Only use music you own or have the right to use. You own your mixes, and you are responsible for how you use and share them.
