Terms of service
Last updated: 12 October 2026
The rules for using Sonata, in plain English. By using sonatamix.com you agree to them.
The short version
- Sonata is in beta. You can use it free. Paid plans are optional, and you are charged only if you choose one and complete payment.
- Your audio is processed on your own device. Only use music you own or have the right to use.
- You own your mixes. You are responsible for how you use and share them, including any licences you need to play them in public.
- Please do not misuse the service. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have under Australian Consumer Law or other laws that cannot be excluded.
Who we are, and this agreement
Sonata (sonatamix.com) is operated by Citruscan Pty Ltd (ABN 33 698 868 870) (“Sonata”, “we”, “us”). These terms are the agreement between you and us about your use of the website and tool (the “service”). Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information and is part of this agreement. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
Beta service, as is
Sonata is in beta. The free plan is free to use. Optional paid plans are Pro monthly (9 US dollars a month), Pro yearly (89 US dollars a year) and a Weekend Pass (5 US dollars for 48 hours of Pro). You are charged only if you choose a plan and complete payment. The price is shown again before you pay. A subscription renews until you cancel. A Weekend Pass does not renew. We may change the service, limit it, suspend it or stop it at any time, including features, limits and the formats we export.
Tempo and key detection, ordering, beatmatching and blending are automated and will sometimes be wrong, especially on audio we have not tested well. Always listen to your mix and check it before you rely on it. The service is provided “as is” and “as available”, without promises that it will be error-free, uninterrupted or suitable for a particular purpose, to the extent the law allows (see “Disclaimers and liability”).
Accounts
- You must be at least 13 years old to use the service, or older if the law where you live requires it. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent or guardian’s permission.
- Some features, such as keeping more than one mix or exporting, may require an account, and we may change which ones.
- Give a real email address that you control, and keep your password secret. You are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has accessed it.
- One person per account. Do not share logins or make accounts by automated means.
Paid plans
- Pro monthly is 9 US dollars a month. Pro yearly is 89 US dollars a year. A Weekend Pass is 5 US dollars and lasts 48 hours. Founder lifetime is one payment of 200 US dollars, offered to the first 100 buyers only. Prices are in US dollars.
- Founder lifetime gives your account Pro with no end date and nothing to renew, for as long as Sonata offers Pro. It belongs to the account that bought it and cannot be transferred.
- Free includes one mix of up to 10 tracks and a limited WAV export. Pro includes unlimited tracks and full WAV and MP3 export. The mix is still made on your device.
- Subscriptions renew until you cancel, from Manage billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal. A Weekend Pass does not renew.
- We do not store your card number. Payments are taken by Stripe.
- Prices are in US dollars. The amount is shown again before you confirm. Your bank may convert it to your currency and may charge its own fee for that.
- A creator’s referral link may give you a discount on your first payment; the payment page shows it. The creator is paid a share of what you pay for a year. We may end or change referral offers at any time, without affecting a discount already applied.
- Nothing in this section limits rights you have under Australian Consumer Law.
Cancelling and refunds
- You can cancel a subscription at any time from Manage billing. Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.
- We do not refund the unused part of a period you have paid for, except where a law such as the Australian Consumer Law requires it, or where we agree to.
- A Weekend Pass starts when your payment succeeds and runs for 48 hours. It cannot be cancelled once it has started, and it is not refunded except where the law requires it.
- If a purchase did not give you what it should have, email us and we will sort it out, which may mean a refund. A refunded Weekend Pass or Founder lifetime ends when the refund is made.
Your audio: you need the rights
Sonata does not host, store or distribute music. Your files are read and processed inside your browser and are not uploaded to us (see our Privacy policy). Because of that, we do not check what you load, and you are solely responsible for the audio you use with Sonata.
By adding audio you confirm that you own it or have the permission, licence or legal right to use it in this way (analysing it, copying it into your browser’s storage, blending it and exporting the result). Do not use audio ripped from streaming services, circumvent copy protection, or use pirated or unlicensed material. We do not condone it and we are not responsible for it.
Acceptable use
Do not:
- break the law or infringe anyone’s copyright or other rights using the service;
- try to break, overload, probe or bypass the security, limits or account rules of the service, or interfere with other people’s use of it;
- send fake or automated usage data, or scrape, harvest or mass-create accounts;
- copy, resell, rent out or build a competing service from our software, name or design, or reverse engineer it except where the law lets you;
- use the service to harass, defraud or harm others, or to upload or spread malware.
Your mixes, and using them in public
As between you and us, you keep whatever rights you have in your audio and in the mixes and files you export: we claim no ownership of them. We do not receive them. That does not give you rights in other people’s music. The tracks inside a mix still belong to their owners, and a mix made from them may need permission.
You are responsible for how you use or share a mix. Playing a mix in a venue, broadcasting it, or posting it online (including to streaming and social platforms) can need licences from the music’s rights holders or from licensing bodies in your country, and platforms may remove or block content. Sonata does not provide any of those licences and does not check whether you have them.
Your mixes live in your browser. Clearing browser data, changing device or a browser problem can delete them, and we cannot recover them. Keep copies of anything that matters.
Our software and brand
The Sonata software, design, text, logo, name and artwork belong to Citruscan Pty Ltd or its licensors and are protected by copyright and other laws. We give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service for your own purposes while these terms apply. We keep all other rights. If you send us feedback or ideas, you let us use them freely without paying you.
Disclaimers and liability
Your legal rights. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy, or any guarantee, warranty or condition, that you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that cannot be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
Subject to that, and to the extent the law allows:
- we give no warranties or conditions, express or implied, about the service, including about accuracy, quality, availability, fitness for purpose or that your data or mixes will be kept;
- we are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, or for loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill or opportunity, or for anything arising from your audio, your mixes or how you use or share them;
- our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to, where the law allows us to limit it, supplying the service again or paying the cost of having it supplied again; and, for a paid service, no more than the amount you paid us for it in the 12 months before the claim.
We are not responsible for third-party services (including your browser, device, network, and providers like Supabase and Vercel) or for events beyond our reasonable control.
If a claim arises from what you do
To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover us for any claim, loss or reasonable cost (including legal fees) that comes from your breach of these terms, your audio or mixes, or your infringement of anyone’s rights. This does not apply to the extent the loss was caused by us.
Ending your use
You can stop using Sonata at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account (see the Privacy policy). We may suspend or end your access, or close your account, if you break these terms, if we must by law, or if we change or stop the service. Parts of these terms that by their nature should continue (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, liability, indemnity and governing law) will continue after that.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will give notice on the site or by email to account holders before it takes effect. If you keep using Sonata after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you do not agree, stop using it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. You and we submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, and of the Commonwealth courts that sit there. This does not take away any consumer protection that applies to you under the law of the place where you live and cannot be excluded. If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. These terms and the Privacy policy are the whole agreement between us about the service.
